Conclusion: Part 1

Wednesday: first we went to the Ming Tomb, the largest tomb in China. We also visited the Confucius temple which was beautiful. I convinced some friends and we started our American food journey. After two bags of Lays potatoes chips, I was simply on cloud 9. We then went to the crystal shop where I had high expectations, yet they were not met. But it was still beautiful with crystal globes. We then continued our American food journey by eating Mc Donalds for lunch. Took a pit stop at the hotel for ladies to change their outfits. At the temple after lunch we had some free time to shop and had our last Chinese meal. AMEN. Most people showered, packed and hit the sack when we got to the hotel and our small hopes for a piazza party were crushed when the pizza place closed at 10 or so, unheard of in America, so we fell asleep.

Travel day was bittersweet. We said bye to Ingrid, our tour guide who I really liked. Our 13 hour flight flew by, haha puns, most people slept the whole time. The five hour layover was not as painful as expected. As soon as I sat down on the plane for Cleveland, I knocked out and the next thing I knew we were landing in Cleveland. It was so nice to see everyone greet their families. I hope everyone got home safely, when I saw my mom I started crying. I missed her so much :) Hi Ma, love you :)
I cant wait to write part two,  downloaded my pictures to a website and connect it here. Keep checking the blog for the final post with remember whens and meal descriptions and fun.

Pandas!!

great wall!

Tuesday

What. A. Day. So much traveling, good for me because I was able to sit and close my eyes while dozing off to my ipod, but a two hour trip to the country side, hour or more in the heat ( we were told to wear long sleeves and pants today) two hour trip back, shopping at a silk factory and then straight on the bullet train to Nanjing. Nan means south and jing means capital. A leisure day ahead of us thank goodness! Tomorrow we are visiting a ming dynasty tomb, I think, a crystal shop and will be back at the hotel around 4 for some free time and relaxation. This hotel is very nice I just took the most awesome shower and have wifi in our rooms for once.

Health update: after a long day of pepto bismal, anti diarrea tablets and prayers to Mother Mary, I feel my appetite again and am slowly feeling better. Taylor feels pretty rough still, no one got sick today but a few people are catching head colds. We are happy to finally be here in Nanjing and are looking forward to being home, however not our 14 hour flight and 5 hour lay over in Chicago.

Rose, all Ive eaten here has been...drumroll please...Chicken. Ma the only form of chicken I will want to have when I get back is chicken noodle soup and the chicken encheladas hint hint wink wink. :)
Mary Jane. I am calling you during my layover expect a call from me Friday night.
Xoxo goodnight Nanjing!!!

Update

Its Tuesday morning and I am feeling better,  I'm not sure about Taylor because I havent talked to her yet but I haven't gotten sick again. I brought my own food and will be eating it for the rest of the trip. I will not take any chances of throwing up again. We are leaving Shanghai today. Yesterday the girls went shopping, ate at a Chinese mcdonalds and saw an acrobatic show. I slept. People say I look ten times better than I did yesterday so I really am praying for a quick recovery. Our next hotel is supposed to be the nicest and our bullet train leaves around 8 instead of 10 at night. Amen. Here is to a good day. Zai jien

I always knew I had a bad stomach, but this just breaks my heart and mind. Taylor and I are both sick, left the tour and went back to the hotel early. I feel so crappy and homesick because I am half way around the world sick and without my mom. Hi ma, I miss you a lot. I cant wait to see you when I get home, I will probably cry like I am now. I think this is a combination of not enough sleep and eating the same things 2 out of 3 meals a day. And all of the fried food. I hope. I keep praying to God and please if you're reading this say a prayer for us girls out here that we maintain good health, that Taylor, Mrs Schuetz and I feel better so so soon and that we all have safe bus rides, train rides and flights that will take us one step closer to home.

April 8

Good morning!
Easter Sunday, what a busy busy day!
Woke up,  packed our bags and had a small prayer service. On the road again. First we went to the PANDA ZOO!!!!!!! We saw four pandas and they were adorable! So cute! We took a city tour and took rickshaw rides 2x2. Broke for lunch then went to the Forbidden city, Tiananmen Square and the Imperial garden. It was so huge and beautiful and huge! We then went to Jingshan park which overlooks the Forbidden city and Tiananmen Square. That was such a beautiful sight. Exhausted, we went to a Chinese doctor and they evaluated us by feeling our pulse and looking at our tongue. We also were able to get a 10 minute massage,  man did that feel like God was working his fingers on all of us. Then we said goodbye yo Beijing and went to the airport for our flight to Shanghai. We are safe in Shanghai and have a nicer hotel. We have a big day ahead so I'm going to get ready. More photos to come tonight when we get back to the hotel. Happy Easter everyone!!!
